Veneracea

Shells in this group are solid and slightly compressed shells possessing a hatchet shaped foot. There are generally two or three teeth in each valve. The pallial sinus is obvious and is generally not confluent with the pallial line. The ligament is on the outside of the shell.  Essentially shallow burrowers that filter plant plankton from the water.
