Size: Up to 12mm high; 5mm broad Shape: The last whorl makes up about two thirds of the total shell height. Relatively short spire. Has a short but wide siphonal canal and shallow anal siphon. There is a subsutural flattened area on each whorl. Colour: White to biscuit coloured. Sculpture: 20-27 costae on last whorl; 17-23 on penult. Numerous spiral ridges which are faint on the tops of the costae and more pronounced in between. Animal: Flesh is white or grey. Tentacles have an eye about a half way down. Small oval operculum on foot.
Ecology and behaviour
Lives on sandy bottom feeding on small annelid worms.
Distribution and status
Recorded from northern parts of the North Sea from 25-30m deep. May be frequent locally.
