Size: Up to 5mm high; 2.5mm broad Shape: Relatively tall, narrow shell with a blunt tip. The last whorl makes up about 60% of the shell height. Has a short but wide siphonal canal and lacks an anal siphon. Colour: Uniform chestnut browm. Sculpture: 9-10 costae and 10-16 spiral ridges on the last whorl. Fewer on the penult. The spiral ridges cross the costae. There is a varix along the outer. Animal: Flesh is pale brown or tawny with many white spots. Two tentacles have an eye about half way down. Small operculum on foot.
Found under stones and in crevices from low water to 60m.
Occurs in the southern parts of England and also recorded from the Channel Islands.
