dead shell taken from scallop dredge off Shetland 8mm, the species is circumpolar with the best examples being found in the North West Atlantic in deep water where they are larger and iridescent.
This species has been said to be our largest Mangelia. The figured shell is from lower intertidal zone but from Britany as I know of no authentic fresh material from UK or Channel Islands
