Size: Up to 11mm high; 5mm broad (though more commonly half this size). Shape: Relatively tall shell with the last whorl making up about XXX% of the total shell height. Has a short but wide siphonal canal and pronounced anal sinus slightly away from the wall on the last whorl. Colour: Two forms: 1) tawny with orange brown spiral bands possibly interrupted to form streaks. 2) Spire and half the last whorl chocolate brown, base cream or tawny. There is a brown blotch in the middle of the outer lip and another in the throat. Sculpture: Possesses costae (7-8 on the last whorl) and spiral ridges (100 on the last whorl). Animal: White with opaque white markings and some pink on the siphon. There are two cephalic tentacles with an eye about half way along each. No operculum on foot.
