The Society’s Council has voted to overhaul its Research Grants system, through which we have supported many mollusc-related research projects over the past 25 years. We hope the revised Project Grants scheme will attract a wider variety of initiatives, and encourage more applications from Britain and Ireland.

A non-marine field meeting is coming up in the Cheddar area, Somerset with leaders Chris Billinghurst and Keith Alexander.

Conflicting reports have appeared in the recent UK media regarding the legality of collecting shells on British beaches. Many of these refer to the UK Coast Protection Act 1949 (Coast Protection Act 1949 (legislation.gov.uk).
