The AGM (Saturday 28th March) – The Covid-19 / Corona virus situation

The Society is keeping a close watch on how the coronavirus situation might affect the forthcoming AGM. Whilst we do not envisage having to postpone this meeting, we nevertheless feel that it is prudent to notify Conchological Society members of our plans. We are keeping a close watch on developments, especially in London. The situation is changing rapidly; it maybe that the spread will be contained and no Governmental advice to abandon meetings will be issued. There is, however, a chance that restrictions will be imposed in which case we may decide to postpone the AGM. Even if the Government does not impose restrictions, we may also still feel that a situation exists which puts Society members at unnecessary risk in attempting to attend the meeting. Another possibility is that the Natural History Museum will be closed which will, of course, prevent the meeting from happening.

Society Officers will review the situation in the week beginning 16th March. If we decide that events cause us to postpone the meeting, then we will do so no later than on Saturday 21st March. If this happens, we will post a notice on the Society website and also instruct CIRCA (our membership managers) to email members (where they have this information) or post letters to all others.
