Over the past four years, Andreia Salvador (Natural History Museum, London), Harriet Wood and James Turner (Amgueddfa Cymru - Museum Wales) have been developing a new zone to the Mollusca Types in Britain & Ireland website called Malacologists Through Time, which was officially launched this November.
This project is a collaborative initiative designed to preserve and share the knowledge, experience, and stories that are passed down through generations of curators. It brings together resources accumulated over time and dispersed across museums, libraries, archives and websites.
It is a space to discover more about the people behind the malacological collections in Britain and Ireland, with tools to support label handwriting identification, insights into their networks, signposting to their dispersed collections and much, much more! It may be focused on people linked to malacology and conchology in British and Irish collections, but there is a huge crossover with many other collection areas and countries as well. We really hope you find this addition to the website useful in your work.
