Saturday 19th September 2020: FIELD MEETING (marine): Bembridge Ledges, Isle of Wight. Still going ahead.

Date
Type
Field meeting

***** Update: This meeting is still going ahead;  but in view of current regulations, there cannot be more then 6 participants, so anyone who has not previously contacted Bas may have to be turned away;  also participants should bring masks and wear them during the intial briefing.

**** Low tide on 19 September will be around 20:00 - apologies that I must have made a mistake when looking up the tides when this meeting was first planned.   As a result, the meeting time will now be at 16:30 (still at the IOW Council car park at NGR SZ657 879, near the lifeboat station).  The plan will be to start by looking at strandlines and rockpools, taking weed-washing samples if possible, and then follow the falling tide down; as it will be getting dark after about 19:00, participants who intend to stay on when it gets darker should bring waterproof torches.  Bas.  (added 13 August) ****

****  We still plan to hold this meeting if Covid advice allows.  However as the situation is very fluid, it would be helpful if those planning to come would contact the organiser in advance so that he can 'phone or e-mail intending partcipants if late changes have to be made.  Thanks - Bas. **** (added 6 August)

Hard limestone ledges, softer mudstone and lagoon habitats; fairly low spring tide  (+0.3m, 14:00).

Meet at 16:30 at IOW Council car park, NGR SZ657 879, near lifeboat station.
