Joint meeting with the Essex Field Club.
The site is approx. 200 acres of ancient semi-natural woodland, now managed as a nature reserve, on the fringes of Southend-on-Sea. The visit is to survey extensively for non-marine (primarily terrestrial) molluscs and to attempt to establish the continued presence of Limax cinereoniger, for which there are old records from the site.
Meet at 10:30am at the entrance to the wood on the junction of Warren Road and Sanctuary Road (grid ref. TQ8212 8745, postcode SS9 3TT). There is on-street parking. Nearest railway station is Leigh-on-Sea, approx. 25 minutes walk. Please contact Simon beforehand if you plan to attend, when you will receive a mobile phone number for use on the day if necessary.
