Saturday 23 January 2016: INDOOR MEETING: lecture and exhibits.

Type
Indoor meeting

Guest Speaker:   Brian Eversham, "Climate change and habitat management for invertebrates, with special reference to molluscs".

14:00 – 17:00: Angela Marmont Centre, Natural History Museum, London SW7 5BD.

Brian explores the pattern of previous climate change on the British fauna, as context for current and future anthropogenic climate change. He considers the likely impacts of predicted climate change on terrestrial and freshwater habitats and species. He looks at other factors which also affect species conservation, and how these may interact with climate. Finally he discusses how habitat management and restoration may need to be modified to take account of future climate, and illustrates each theme with British non-marine molluscs.

The talk will start shortly after 14:00, and will be followed by questions and displays.

(Council members please note that there will be a Council meeting before this meeting.)
