Joint meeting with the Bedfordshire Invertebrate Group (BIG).
Luton Borough Council have requested that BIG look at this site which could potentially be under threat but one that is already known to have an interesting invertebrate fauna including Bombardier Beetles Brachinus crepitans. The site is on the chalk and is a mosaic of grasslands with scrub, wet areas and old woodland belts/hedgerows, one of which connects the site to the Winch Wood CountyWildlife Site – an ancient woodland relic, so there is a good range of habitats.
Park and meet 10.00am at TL12452217 off Eaton Green Road, Luton L2. The road is just north of Luton airport, off the A505.
Peter Topley (01462 615 499; magazine@conchsoc.org) and Alan Outen (for BIG)
