Contribution to the Sheffield Bioblitz; joint meeting with Sorby NHS.
Gillfield Wood is a long, thin wood on the south western edge of Sheffield, centred on SK 305 788. There are few molluscan records for the wood, but it has streams and rocks. Altitude ranges from about 160-220 m asl. We may get some surprises! Bring lunch and the usual field gear; there are some steep slopes in the wood.
Meet at 10.30 at the car park of the Dyson Works on the A621 between Totley and Owler Bar (SK 297 790). This is on the north side of the road, and is about 200m from the westernmost end of the wood. Parking (for up to 30 cars) has been arranged with the company. If there is a security man on duty, tell him that you have come for the Gillfield bioblitz.
