Durlston Country Park lies at the SE corner of the Isle of Purbeck, on the Southwest Coast Path, with wonderful sea views. We will make a short walk through coastal grassland, scrub and wooded areas around the lighthouse, looking for a range of terrestrial calciphile species, including the rare British whorl snail Truncatellina callicratis. Access has been arranged with the owners (Dorset County Council)
Meet at 10:30 in the Country Park car park at SZ 032 773; this is a large pay-and-display car park, but free passes will be arranged. Toilets and other facilities are available. See website for directions etc: http://www.durlston.co.uk/. Bring outdoor gear and sturdy footwear.
A wide range of molluscs have been recorded from Kimmeridge Bay and Ledges, including many smaller species. Meet at 15:30 in Kimmeridge Bay car park at SY 909 791, which is about 8 miles from Durlston Country Park. Low tide (+0.9m) is at 17:50.
