Edmondsham House is situated in the Dorset countryside at the heart of Edmondsham village within a triangle constructed by Cranborne to the northwest, Alderholt to the northeast, and Verwood to the southeast. Wimborne is more distant and to the south. The grid reference for the entrance gate to Edmondsham House is SU 05991172. The directions that follow flow from each of the places named above.
Approaching via Alderholt
Leave Alderholt on the B3078 sign to Cranborne. Continue until reaching Cripplestyle where take major turning left (signed VERWOOD 23/4 with ‘HEAVY HORSE CENTRE’ heritage sign).
Continue until passing Heavy Horse Centre on your right when within a few hundred metres turn right at a poorly indicated junction whose post shows Edmondsham only when actually on it. At once pass Keets Cottage on your right and proceed until reaching Edmondsham village, passing village hall and post office on your right and phone box on your left. At junction, turn right to pass through the wrought iron gates and follow the signs.
Approaching via Cranborne
Leave Cranborne on B3078 heading south. At the top of the hill, just after passing Cranborne Manor Garden Centre, turn left for Edmondsham. Proceed for 11/4 miles until reaching the junction. (You will pass the western entrance to the House and also the entrance to the Parish Church on your left. Ignore both.) Turn left to pass through the wrought iron gates and follow the signs.
Approaching via Verwood
Follow the B3081 through Verwood and remain on it until reaching a T junction where the B3081 actually turns left but appears to sweep to the right. Follow the line of the road to the right. It has now become a minor road leading into Edmondsham village. Proceed to the T junction where you will be facing the gate into Edmondsham House. Pass through the wrought iron gates and follow the signs.
Approaching via Wimborne
Leave Wimborne on the B3078 signed to CRANBORNE and proceed until reaching the turning on your right into the B3081 signed WOODLANDS, VERWOOD, RINGWOOD and with ‘HEAVY HORSE CENTRE’ heritage sign. Proceed until reaching a series of bends with clear reflector warnings followed by a T junction. Turn left and proceed to the T junction in Edmondsham village where you will be facing the gate into Edmondsham House. Pass through the wrought iron gates and follow the signs.
