From data collected over a two-year period, it is suggested that at Monks Wood Aegopinella nitidula has a biennial life cycle with delayed maturity and overlapping generations. This is in contrast to a previously reported annual cycle for this species. A biennial life cycle may be advantageous in unstable environmental conditions.
