Landsnails from southern Lebanon

22 species are reported from southern Lebanon. The malacofauna of southern Lebanon is very similar to that of northern Lebanon, and of northern Israel. In most species the largest specimens are from an altitude of 400 m. Apparently this altitude contains the optimal conditions, in terms of mild mediterranean climate, for the development of large snails.
