A sample of ‘head brickearth’ from Reculver, Kent, yielded a typical loess fauna comprising Pupilla muscorum, Succinea oblonga, Columella columella, Trichia hispida and Deroceras sp. Thermoluminescence dates in the range 17–23,000 years BP, demonstrate that this loess accummulated during the early part of the Late Devensian.
