Examining the anatomy of the monotypic Araboxychilus Riedel, 1977 revealed that it should be included as a subgenus in the genus Oxychilus Fitzinger, 1833 (Zonitidae – Oxychilinae). Thus there is a small, isolated distribution area of the Zonitidae in the south-west of the Arabian Peninsula, rather remote from the continuous distribution range of the family.
