The deep-sea gastropod Oocorys sulcata attains unusually large size, has a broad geographic range including the Atlantic and Indo-Pacific, maintains a global bathymetric range from the shelf-slope transition to the abyss, and is locally very rare. The extreme scale of its body size-distribution-abundance relationships presents a theoretical challenge to deep-sea ecology.
