Coracuta obliquata n. gen. is recorded from Carmarthen Bay in the Bristol Channel, providing the first British record in 100 years and the first live record in British waters. Its previous generic placements are discussed
and hinge structure compared with similar galeommatids. A full description of the species and of the new genus are given and a lectotype is designated.
