Sphaerium solidum (Normand) is reported from the River Great Ouse, Cambridgeshire, adjacent to a RAMSAR site of high conservation interest. The previously known UK populations are confined to a single river system (River Witham, Lincolnshire). We speculate on the source of the newly discovered population.
