<em>Elysia viridis</em> (Montagu, 1804)

Bryopsis plumosa. Small green feather-like alga (compare size of barnacle in image). Coenocytic (=no cellular divisions) so chloroplasts accessible to Elysia viridis and Limapontia capitata with minimum piercing effort. Menai Strait, Wales.

Elysia viridis 7. Anterior rim of head; thick, divided by vertical cleft into two curved halves. Large smooth enrolled rhinophores. No oral tentacles. Foot has whitish flakes and fine brown pigment specks. Rock pool, lower shore, Dorset. January 2011.
