Pleurobranchella (= Pleurobranchoides O’Donoghue, 1929; Gigantonotum Guang-Yu and Si, 1965) contains possibly four described species, all known only from preserved material collected from depths greater than 200 m. The genus is characterized by a large mantle which overhangs the foot laterally and posteriorly and by simple lateral teeth in the radula. A revised definition of Pleurobranchella is presented, together with brief descriptions of all known species.
