The keyhole limpet, Fissurella impedimentum Cooke, from the Gulf of Suez, is poorly described in the literature. The syntypes of F. impedimentum are described and illustrated. Their preservation suggests that the form is from the raised shell beds of the Gulf of Suez. Capulina ruppelli var. barroni Newton is a junior synonym.
