Neotypes are designated for Eulima glabra (Da Costa, 1778) and Melanella alba (Da Costa, 1778) (Eulimidae Prosobranchia), and their nomenclatorial history is reviewed. This is done in order to stabilize the use of the names, for what probably are the two most well known and most often cited species of the family. New synonyms for Melanella alba are Eulima porcellana A. Adams, 1851 and Eulima subangulata Sowerby, 1834.
