In 1986 and 1989 a land snail survey was carried out on Rodrigues. This was followed up by examination of collections in the Natural History Museum, London (NHM) including that of Dr E. H. Madge. A total of 27 native snails were recorded, of which 5 species were extinct and a further 3 species probably extinct. A total of 11 introduced snails and slugs were recorded.
