Five more species from the genus Helicopsis (Helicopsis) have now been confirmed from Morocco, greatly extending the range of the genus which is shown to be disjunct with species in central – eastern Europe and North-west Africa. These species are re-described using both shell and anatomical characters. The cause of this apparently disjunct distribution pattern is discussed with relation to the areas of taxonomic insufficiency and the impact of Pleistocene climatic change.
