Three shells of a small vertiginid land snail were collected in Afromontane Rain Forest at an altitude of 2215-2269 m in the Rwenzori Mountains, Uganda, in 1996. The material has tentatively been identified as Columella aspera Waldén. The record represents the first report of the genus Columella from Africa.
